In the Chicago Tribune today, a story on new code words to humiliate people with... It's sad, and difficult not only imagining, but also remembering the pain the behaviors in this article cause a fellow human being.
Yes, I have been targeted by both subtle and non-so-subtle racism. No African American in this country can say they have not... I did not at the time, however, have the courage or belief in the system to fight those who would humiliate me.
I am SO proud of the people in this story who went to court and won their cases. To even know what it takes to speak out is purely heroic and I applaud them for what they have sacrificed in the process.
